2 a.m. Orchestra Progress
With Impermanence

I bet 2 a.m. Orchestra’s, David Kelley, never imagined that jammin' with his buddies from Hoover High would eventually lead to touring China in support of their latest release, Impermanence.

Having two full-length albums under their belt, (singer-songwriter) Kelley, (drummer) Randy Schnidt (drummer) and (bassist) Aaron Taunton have come a long way!

There 2001 debut album, 2 a.m. Orchestra, mixed Beatle-esque sounds with a Ben Folds Five-type vibe, vocally and musically.

However, with Impermanence, not only does Kelley manage to retain his title as one of the best songwriters that have come out of Fresno, the band takes a chance on improving their sound by implementing different instruments and effects.

The overall orchestration is more complex and Kelley’s voice and lyrics have matured (his vocal tones are awesome on this one!) almost in the way that Brian Wilson had progressed in his ‘Pet Sounds’ era.

The sound of Impermanence possess an almost "indie rock opera" sound in themes and music--adding brass instruments, bells and different percussion and string instruments into its psychadelic/60s-rock meets indie rock sound.

And no, 2 a.m. Orchestra haven't turned into Jefferson Airplane or The Who! But you can definitely hear the influences of the era of flower power on this one.

Highlights of the album include: "Not The One," "Reflection", "Rainy Days" and "Delilah".

With its mellow and airy sound, Impermanence is definitely the album you put on, hit repeat and just let play on a drive to the coast or chillin' with your mate at Woodward Park on a Sunday afternoon.

Go pick this one up and treat yourself to a refreshing pleasure to the ears, you won’t regret it!
