10 Questions With Bad Andy!

Musician/singer-songwriter Andy Bunnell talks to Souls & Sounds!

What bands are you currently in?
Pinkeye, recently I’ve been playing in No Cello, a 70s cover band called Dreamweaver, and an Elvis tribute band fronted by Jeremy ‘Elvis’ Pearce.

Describe Pinkeye’s music in one word?
Encephalitic, which means it makes your brain grow bigger, or Fresnasty.

When did you start doing music and who influenced you?
I had piano lessons for years as a kid, started guitar at 13, and I’ve been in bands ever since. I’m influenced by Pop, Surf and British music from the 60s, Punk, Glam and Art Rock from the 70s, New Wave and some Goth from the 80s, and Indie and Noise stuff from the 90s.

What to you like least about the Fresno music scene?
It’s a small community with not much room to grow. There’s a handful of venues, some of which aren’t that easy to deal with, and lots of unnecessary hurdles to jump to get anything done. It’s the main reason so many people have tried their luck in other cities.

What do you like best about the Fresno music scene?
The community we do have is tight, friendly, and supportive. You can always see friends at shows and it’s easy to network and get the word out about things.

What direction is Pinkeye going with the new album and when will it be released?
The CD is an introduction to Pinkeye to those who haven’t heard us before, and for those who have, it’s some old favorites we’ve played for awhile

Favorite movie?
Three Amigos or the Big Lebowski

Least Favorite movie?
Spiderman 2

What makes Bad Andy mad?
People who are scared of Downtown Fresno

Favorite vacation spot?
So far, London.
