-The 2007 Cal State Fair features some of the
best in classic rock, funk and soul!

Every year The Cal State Fair held in Sacramento, CA, hosts the best legendary bands around...and this year is no different.

Just check out the calender, this year the biggest Fair on the West Coast will be featuring: Tesla, The Commodores, The Temptations Review with Dennis Edwards, KC & The Sunshine Band, Huey Lewis & The News and Chicago!

Here's a sneak peak at what you have to look forward to starting Friday, August 17th through Monday September 3rd!

TESLA

In support of their latest album, Real To Reel (a 2 CD covers compilation of their favorite rock tracks from the 1960s and 70s), Sacramento's own--hard rock band Tesla, kicks off this year's Cal State fair on Friday, August 17th!

You will remember their late 80's/early 90's hits: "Love Song", "Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)", "The Way It Is", "Gettin' Better" , their acoustic cover of The Five Man Electrical Band's, "Signs" (which sparked the MTV series Unplugged) and "What You Give".

Unlike many of their fellow counterparts that spawned out of the third and final wave of glam rock, this band continued to kick out non-stop energetic live shows throughout the years.

What you can expect at the show? All of the original members minus the guitarist, a mix of favorites from the past with new tracks from Real to Reel and LOTS of audience participation!

HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

Gracing you with their presence on Tuesday, August 21, are rock legends Huey Lewis & The News!

Most popular for their hits, "Do You Believe In Love," "The Power Of Love", "Heart And Soul", "I Want A New Drug", "If This Is It,"The Heart Of Rock & Roll" and "Working For A Livin',' this band has toured continuously since their height of popularity in the mid-80s.

What you can expect at the show: A fun night of upbeat harmonica and blues fueled classic rock and roll. All of your favorites, plus most of the original members minus guitar player Chris Hayes. Bass player Mario Cippolina (second from left), who left the band in 1994, will appear with Huey & The News for a special performance on Tuesday!

THE TEMPTATIONS REVIEW FEATURING DENNIS EDWARS

On Thursday, August 23rd, these Motown power hitters will be bringing their brand of classic soul to the stage!

Although the lineup has changed several times since the groups inception in the early 1960s, two things have remained the same; The Temptations' soul harmonies and choreographed dance moves that have inspired many artists throughout the decades.

Some of the hits you will remember: "My Girl," "I Can't Get Next To You", "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", "Since I Lost My Baby", (I Know) I'm Losin' You, and "I Wish It Would Rain".

What you can expect at the show? All of your favorites featuring one of the Temptations' original lead singers, Dennis Edwards!

KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND

One of the few bands that became popular in the disco era and acutally lasted, KC & The Sunshine Band will bring their funky disco grooves to the Cal Expo stage on Wednesday, August 29th!

You'll be gettin' down to: "Get Down Tonight", "Please Don't Go", "Boogie Shoes", "Shake Your Booty", "That's The Way (I Like It)" and more.

What you can expect at the show? Lots of sweaty dancin' party people of all ages and all your favorite KC hits from the era of platform shoes, bell bottoms and butterfly collard poleyster shirts!

THE COMMODORES

Coming your way, Friday, August 31st is R&B/pop group, The Commodores!

Just about all of the original members from the 1970s funk infused Commodores are now absent from the band (including the most notable, Lionel Richie), however, The Commodores continue to truck on to bring you a night of pop and soul hits from the yester-year.

Hits you will remember: "Brick House", "Easy", "Just To Be Close To You," "Sail On" and "Night Shift" just to name a few.

What you can expect at the show? A variety of hits from the past.

CHICAGO

The "Rock and Roll band with horns," Chicago, glides your way on Sunday, August 2nd!

With hits such as: "25 to 64", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?," "Saturday In The Park", "You're The Inspiration" and "Hard Habit To Break", these living legends have been churning out hits decade after decade since 1968.

Most of the original members are still in tact and the horns are back at the helm.

What you can expect at the show? No Peter Cetera (lead singer for "You're The Inpsiration" and "Hard Habit To Break"), so I'm not sure if you will hear any of the songs he's sung. Don't quote me on that one though. Also expect to hear a variety of their horn infused hits from Chicago's heyday and recent pop tracks.

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC

Now you know us! OF COURSE we couldn't forget Weird Al!

Since the 1980's Weird Al Yankovic has been putting his own quirky comedic twist on the most popular songs of the year.

On Labor Day-Monday, September 3rd, Al sloshes his wit across the Cal State stage and proves to you why he's become such a strong force in the music industry.

Ok, maybe those last few words seem a bit too serious when referring to Weird Al!

But really though, throughout the years he has composed the most brilliant, most funny song parodies known to pop culture.

Songs you will remember? "Like A Surgeon" (Madonna's Like A Virgin), "Eat It" (Michael Jackson's Eat It), "I'm Fat" (Michael Jacksons I'm Bad), "Amish Paradise" (Coolio's Gangster's Paradise), "Another One Rides The Bus" (Queen''s Another One Bites The Dust), the more recent "White And Nerdy" (Chamillionaire's Ridin' Dirty).

What you can expect from the show? Plenty of laughs and a fun time!

So grab a beer battered, fried peanut butter and banana sandwich and check out some quality music entertainment!
